Good Friday Eggs

Today marked the start of the Easter long weekend, and with that we embarked on our hard boiled eggs.  We started with three food dye baths (1 teaspoon colouring; red, blue or yellow, one teaspoon vinegar, 1/2 cup of water and a wax candle was used for a few drawn designs before dying) and after a few casualties ( three egg omlette now planned for dinner, one hard boiled egg eaten for lunch)  and a little mixing from the eldest,  voila, a rainbow of eggs !

    Love those rich colors! While you may not have the right season, Easter is a little odd for us here–it is just NOT spring yet where we are. It’s cold and muddy.

    It’s fiunny isn’t it, sometimes the grass always looks greener on the other side, but each place has it’s own little things which we wouldn’t be without. I couldn’t imagine our easter roast without fresh beans and the first autumn pumpkin from the garden, and of course passionfruit for dessert from our neighbours overly abundant vine which is always in flower and fruit at eastertime.
    Blessings on your almost springtime easter, I bet the waiting makes those first buds and bulbs seem all the brighter when they finally appear.
